Static and Dynamic composition is important to consider when taking photographs. Your subject may appear to tell a different story if shot with a dynamic composition vs a static one.
When composing my dynamic shots, I look for the horizon, and I try to imagine how the other subjects would look if I take the shot with a diagonal horizon. That same concept can be used with static composition. I look at the subjects in the shot, and I try to shoot the picture that shows the majority of my subjects in a vertical orientation.
To be dynamic, a shot must have more diagonal lines and elements that vertical, and vice versa for static. To be static an image must be composed primarily of horizontal and vertical lines.
